It has been a mixed week in France, Luxembourg, and Germany, with heavy rain on the first days. Now it is time to leave. On my last weekday, I had hoped to see trains at Longuyon station, but unfortunately, I had no luck. In France, there can be nothing for many hours, then all 20 trains pass during a single hour of the day, and you can't predict when it will happen.
Leaving Pont à Mousson
Shrimp burger, that's new
This line seems to be busy at least
186 176
SNCF Class Z 11500
There are only a few daily trains between Nancy and Longuyon.
Longuyon
I realized just now that there is a railworks on the line to Valenciennes, so there will not be any train here during my stay
This was a hotel before, but not anymore
So, there is no possibility to stay here during the night unless at an airbnb
There is a street market in town
Not a hotel anymore
So, what to do? I decided to go to Luxembourg
Purchasing a ticket in the machine
Taking a bus to Longwy
From Longwy there are frequent services to Luxembourg, but only on weekdays
Approaching Luxembourg
Purchasing lunch at the station, and I'm already on my next trainI'm at Oetrange station, hoping to see some freight
And I do
It's 188 062 heading to Germany
This train is heading to Trieste in Italy, with further ferry transport to Turkey
Hettange-Grande
A freight is coming
There is a steep hill from Thionville, this train looks very heavy
It's very slow, and it needs double locomotives
3020 and 3019 are both operational in Luxembourg and France
And, one last freight train for today
427108E with a freight from Barcelona, Spain
These two locomotives are equipped with ERTMS in order to operate all the way to Luxembourg
My flight back to Stockholm is tomorrow, so I'm staying in this recently opened hotel with a view over the station
On my way to the airport
