Hønefoss, Geilo, Finse

Today I'm continuing my summer Norway tour, and now I'm on the route along Bergensbanen

Hønefoss in the morning, here is the night train from Bergen, and I think it is quite delayed

The night train do not stop here

OnRail 85918 is arriving from Stavanger

It is 159 006, Eurodual

It is the second Eurodual form OnRail, the other one is operating the line to Åndalsnes

It's a complicated procedure here in Hønefoss due to railworks in Drammen

The locomotive is disconnected in the front

And it is now reconnected at the rear part of the train

The train continues backward on the track that goes to Hen

The reason is that there will be other trains coming from Oslo, so the route has to be clear

Now the route is clear for the journey to Alnabru, Oslo

It's still early in the morning, and I woke up at 6 to view these interventions

Now it's time to go back to hotel for breakfast

A little bit later it is my turn to take the train

A7 car is only available on the line to/from Bergen

The route is scenic all the way between Oslo and Bergen

The trains on the Bergen line are busier than on the Trondheim line, and all seats are sold out

Many passengers are switching to the bus here in Geilo

In the winter, there is a ski resort here

The station is fresh and clean

Usually operating only between Voss and Bergen, but during the summer months all the way to Geilo

I have been here in April 2017

In April, it is still full winter here, but now in the middle of July, the snow is only at the top of the mountains

The stop is very long here, many passengers are disembarking with bicycles

Rallarvegen is a popular cycling route along the railway

Some passengers manage to take photos without leaving the train

There is only one hotel here, and it is pretty expensive and often fully booked, so I will be heading back shortly to Geilo where there are more hotel options
