21st of July 2025, still very nice summer weather
Today, I'm visiting more places in Närke. Here, the VR train passes by in LaxåSJ Regional train to Göteborg
Västtåg to Mariestad
Laxå modell railway club
It's open tomorrow, but I will not be here then
Many trains take the Värmlandsbanan, so I can only see the train from here
An animal is crossing the railway
At the same time a train is approaching
Due to the closure of the line between Mjölby and Hallsberg in the summer, this DB Cargo train has to take a detour through Göteborg from Malmö
185 328
This train will unload some cargo in Hallsberg and continue later to Rosersberg outside Stockholm
So, what about the poor animal? It could not cross to the other side as there is a high fence next to the railway
At least it was clever enough to wait until the train is gone
Many freight trains are switching to Värmlandsbanan. Due to railworks on Västra stambanan, I think the amount of freight trains are decreased, and some of them are taking the detour through Karlstad.
So, I'm heading to Vretstorp, where it is possible to watch trains from Värmlandsbanan as well
Here is one definetily coming from Värmland, Tågab
Rc2 002 and TMY 103
T44 261 from Nordic Re-Finance and leased to Grenland Rail
Somewhere between Vretstorp and Hallsberg, a major project is underway to build a new railway that will connect to the Hallsberg-Mjölby railway. The place is close to Tälle.
Västra stambanan railway
Rd2 1095 with a freight train
SJ Intercity from Värmland
X2
X55
X40
X74
Rd2 1089
Rd2 1121, Rc4 1251, Rd2 1087
A container freight train is coming from Hallsberg railyard.
At the time when I could see which train was which, I remember Tågfrakt AB was operating this train serving Folkesta, Hallsberg, Falköping, and Göteborg Skandiahamnen
Since 2024 Tågfrakt has been acquired by Real Rail
The train is still operated with Rc4 leased from Nordic Re-Finance
Rc4 1164
I'm back in Hallsberg
Västtåg in transport mode
243 115 "Trevithick"
Richard Trevithick was a British mechanical engineer and inventor who successfully harnessed high-pressure steam and constructed the world's first steam railway locomotive (1803). (Wikipedia)
Railcare train to Folkesta
TMY 1105
The locomotive is from 1955
TMZ 1409
This one is from 1969
Triple green cargo I've seen earlier in Tälle
A guess is that the train is one the way to Borlänge
Back in Laxå
Rc 4 1306
243 116 "Buchli"
ASL Airlines Örebro-Brussels
Last stop for today is in Svartå
Rc4 1197
For some time, the railway through Borlänge is closed due to railworks, which means that ARE and NRE trains are taking the southern route
Here is CargoNet 41914
185 697
CargoNet train from Jönköping to Oslo with Bring semitrailers
187 409
Grenland Rail train on the way to Norway
El15 105 and 101
6 units were manufactured in 1967; today, only 4 are in service. The difference between El14 (31 units manufactured) and El15 is that the latter is made for heavy transports in the north (IORE trains). Tractive effort is 420 kN for El15, compared to 245 kN for El14.
