Mjølfjell, Upsete, Myrdal, Vaksdal, Bergen, Arna

My last full day in Norway on this trip. I'm still in the Bergen area, but tonight I'm taking the night train back to Oslo
Mjølfjell
The station is named after a nearby mountain, 1470m above sea level

R40 to Myrdal
The small village is located downhill from the station

Mjølfjell sportskapell

The station has two tracks but only one platform, so non stopping trains can use the second track

Military shooting field nearby
VY Regionstog to Oslo is approaching

Passengers are enjoying the scenery on the way to Oslo

Rjoandal-tunnelen
I'm on my way down to the village and the river Raundalselvi

A bridge
No jumping on the bridge

Reminder to keep dogs on a leash

A freight train is approaching

I'm back at Upsete. Today I will take a longer walk uphill
I'm on my way to a small lake called Jernhusvatnet
It's possible to walk all the way to Myrdal, but I don't have time for that. Here is the entrance to one of the longest tunnels on the Bergen railway - Gravhalstunnelen, 5311 m, which opened in 1908
My friends are here again

There are bridges on the route

Train from Oslo to Bergen

Nice place for a trainspotting

Crystal clear lake

It's hot today; the sheep have to hide in the shadow

Wonder what they are thinking

It's not always this nice weather up here, so at the station building it is possible to get warm rest

Next stop - Myrdal, where there are significantly more people
My regional train from Bergen is now renamed to F4 to Oslo S
The station is cozy here too, there is also a cafe/restaurant
A beer and a hot dog

A guard is making sure no tourist is crossing the railway

Asian tourists have prepared umbrellas, but not for the rain in this case
Flåmsbanen train is approaching

At Voss, I'm having a short stop

Vaksdal
Norgesmøllene AS avd Vaksdal is a historic flour mill and production facility located on Sørfjorden in Vaksdal, Vestland, Norway, operated by the major Norwegian grain and flour producer Norgesmøllene.
Now it's time for a bunch of freight trains passing by here

I'm back in Bergen

Old town near train station

Trolleybuses in Bergen
But the trolley poles are not use

Ulriken peak seen from the station
I'm on one of the shortest rail services I am aware of, just a few minutes' ride and no stops until Arna
Last stop Arna

The service has a punctuality of 99% which must be the record in Scandinavia

The station is populated with young gulls
The mother is watching

The train from Bergen is delayed
