Bodø, Trondheim

It's time for my almost 10-hour-long day train trip between Bodø and Trondheim
The decision to build the railway to Bodø was made in 1923, but was not completed until the 1960s due to lack of funds and World War II. Freight traffic was permitted starting in December 1961 while the passenger section was opened on 7 June 1962 by King Olav V. In 2010, the station building was upgraded for 25 million kr, including a 23-room, 71-bed hostel. (Wikipedia)

This is the local train between Bodø and Rognan
Nordlandsbanen is being upgraded to ERTMS

The locomotive is arriving; it will couple the wagons and reverse to the station

There is a nearby airport

There are five coaches on the train

There is a nice restaurant at the station

I'm traveling in Premium Pluss coach
The full price is 2029NOK; there is a discount for Interrail 1st class, so the final price is 500NOK
Plenty of leg room here

This is my seat, number 40
There is also a cheaper option in 2nd class coach
It is possible to recline the seat
Departure is on time
Complimentary coffee/tea and water for Premium Pluss
Also some snacks

The section near Ronglan where there was a landslide disrupted the traffic for almost a year

Time to check in for the next train which is a night train to Oslo
The connection is perfect, I have almost an hour between the trains

Full price for a sleeper cabin is 2519NOK or 1250NOK as Interrail price

Today is the World Cup, and Norway is playing - snacks are complimentary in the dining car

Let's celebrate a victory for Norway
