Pratteln, Augarten, Salina Raurica, Saint-Louis, Basel

I have a stopover in Zurich

Taking TGV Lyria to Basel
In Switzerland, it is possible to take a non-reserved seat on the TGV with a Saver Day Ticket

At Pratteln, there is full service with freight trains

193 061 is a Vectron AC locomotive for domestic services only

193 657 and 193 653

193 476 at Rheinfelden Augarten

484 004

193 309

185 126

189 997

German Intercity 2 train is now operating in Switzerland
186 104

620 033 in Salina Raurica

476 456

193 061 is already back from Basel

620 010

187 005

I want to see trains heading to France, so I'm here in Basel changing trains
Tracks 18 and 19 are allocated for the through traffic between France and Muttenz freight yard
37002 is operating here under 15kV 16.7Hz until the border

The border for the switch between 15kV and 25kV is right here under the next bridge

Tracks 4 and 5 are now the terminus for trains from Germany
Tracks 31, 33, and 35 are allocated for French trains

TER200

Saint-Louis
The town is located just at the border with Switzerland and Germany

This is the first/last stop in France before Switzerland
There is a tram line to Basel, which I will be taking soon

37039

There is a shuttle to nearby airport
Most trains are bound for Basel, but some do terminate here

The freight traffic is not as huge as in Switzerland, but there are some trains
37048
Operated by Hexafret (former SNCF Fret)
One of the issues with light traffic is that there is only one type of locomotive here: Alstom Prima, that is compared with Switzerland where there are several generations of Traxx and there are also Siemens Eurosprinter and Vectron

TGV Lyria from Zurich to Paris

The freight train stopped here to let the TGV pass
Now it's time to go
Nearby Basel-Mulhouse airport
The airport is jointly administered by France and Switzerland, governed by a 1949 international convention. It is the only binational airport in the world. The airport serves as a base for easyJet Switzerland and mainly features flights to European metropolitan and leisure destinations. (Wikipedia)

Bus to the nearby airport
I'm taking the tram to Basel
The
Basel tram system covers lines in 3 countries

Basel SBB, opened in 1854 but rebuilt in 1907, is Europe's busiest international border station
