Frankfurt, Rottendorf, Thüngersheim, Himmelstadt, Wernfeld, Gemünden am Main, Lohr

In today's post, there will be a lot of pictures
I'm on my way to Slovenia, with a stopover in Frankfurt
A350 from Air China is at Arlanda, but it's not the one I'm flying with
The new SAS lounge at F gates offer my favourite french beer

I'm on a plane to Frankfurt

Frankfurt Flughafen station

Paris-Berlin train is parked at Frankfurt main station
It has become popular with long distance trains all of a sudden

I think the only stretch this train can make 320 is between Strasbourg and Paris in France

I have a long stopover, so I have to spend a night in Frankfurt
The area around the station is not the nicest in Frankfurt, but it has its charm anyway

Frankfurt is home to the majority of Germany's skyscrapers, including its 15 tallest. Its skyline is one of the largest in the European Union, and by far the largest in Germany. As of 2025, Frankfurt has 43 high-rises that reach a height of 100 metres, 20 of which are taller than 150 m. The tallest building in Frankfurt is the 56-storey Commerzbank Tower, which rises to a height of 259 m and was built in 1997. (Wikipedia)

Frankfurt's red-light district is in the Bahnhofsviertel. The district was more and more dominated by prostitution, especially after 1945. The reason is that during World War II, the area was only slightly damaged by bombs, and many of the hotels located there were used by the US occupation forces for the accommodation of military personnel. The great poverty of the German population and the comparatively wealthy US soldiers formed the sociocultural backdrop for the emergence of the red light district at this point. (Wikipedia)
I'm back at the main station in the morning
Today I'm taking the ICE train to Wurzburg, then I will be taking Regional trains back

There are so much people on the train, that I have to stand next to door

I've arrived at Wurzburg, and a nearby town of Rottendorf

It is a Smartron locomotive, so there is only one country supported
The price for a Smartron is €2.5 million, which is cheaper than the price for a Vectron, which ranges between €3.5 and € 4.0 million depending on the configuration.

This train has only MSC containers
Himmelstadt
The station is still the same since my last visit here, but there is a new gigantic noise protection fence
And there is a need for this fence, since the number of freight trains here is huge
