Pisa, Rome

Today I will be traveling to Rome, where I will spend some hours and then I will be taking a night train to Sicily.

S.Margherita Ligure station is located at Genoa-Pisa railway, which is one of the main trunk lines in Italy. It is used by both regional, long distance and freight trains.
Here is one Regional train
Here is a freight train
483 102 is a Traxx F140 DC from DB Cargo Italia

I will be taking two trains from S.Margherita to Rome, first is the Intercity train to Pisa

Pisa

I have not much time here in Pisa, as it's not possible to store the luggage at the station, I'm using a service from Stowyoubags.com - the locker can be booked online.

Lunch

My next train is a Frecciabianca to Rome

ETR460

I'm now traveling on the Livorno–Rome railway (also called the ferrovia Tirrenica—"Tyrrhenian Railway")
No service in the dining car
The railway if following the coastline

Onboard it was possible to buy an Italian craft beer
At Civitavecchia, I could spot several cruise ships - probably parked here during Corona

Roma Termini

In Rome I have around 4 hours before my night train
What can be better than visiting Rome using the e-scooter. It is easy to rent, and it is not expensive.

During my last visit here in 2019, it was much more people

Taxi cars are waiting for tourists

Luggage storage here in Rome too
Everything is automated, booking and paying is made online, you open and close the locker by entering a pin code

The night train to Sicily. The train will be split into two, one part for Siracusa, the other to Palermo.

I have booked a compartment in the Excelsior-class with a shower and WC, unfortunately, nothing was working in this train, there was no water, and the light was broken in the WC/shower. After my complaints to Trenitalia, I got some compensation later.

The same type of compartment as in Thello trains for Paris-Venice
Unlike at Thello, there is no complimentary Prosecco and snack here, but I got a box with toiletries
