Ludwigsfelde-Struveshof, Saarmund, Golm, Marquardt

Later today I will fly back to Stockholm, I have some hours before my flight so I will visit Berlin outer ring railway
Bahnhof Flughafen BER – Terminal 1-2 station was completed in 2010, but it opened first in 2020 due to the delay of the new airport opening. Today it is the terminus for S-Bahn trains
Also there are regional trains, I will take this one

The Berlin outer ring is a 125 km long double-track electrified railway, originally built by the German Democratic Republic to bypass West Berlin in preparation for the building of the Berlin Wall during the division of Germany. It was developed by East Germany for economic, transport policy, and military reasons between 1951 and 1961 and included parts of some older lines (Outer Freight Ring, Jüterbog–Nauen railway, and Michendorf–Großbeeren railway).

Without the completion of the outer ring, it would not have been possible to build the Berlin Wall, sealing off West Berlin, without disrupting East Germany’s transport links. The Potsdam-Schönefeld Expressway was built for similar reasons. (Wikipedia)
The time before 9EUR ticket looked like this
The outer ring is passing over 9 different railways radiating out of Berlin
There are not many stations at the outer ring railway, I will visit some of them
Ludwigsfelde-Struveshof station

The outer ring is obviously used by freight trains in order to bypass central Berlin
