Hjerkinn, Otta, Lillehammer

Day 3 in Norway: today I'm leaving Oppdal and heading to Lillehammer
I will make two stops on my way. Here is the first at Hjerkinn

Hjerkinn Station is situated on the Dovre Line and is served by four daily express trains in each direction, connecting Oslo and Trondheim. There is no settlement at Hjerkinn, although there is an army base and the nearby Dovre National Park. The station was opened in 1921 as part of the Dovre Line when it was extended from Dombås to Trondheim. The station building, designed by Erik Glosimodt, was finished in 1918. It has been preserved as a cultural heritage site. The highest point of the Dovre Line, at 1024 meters, is about one kilometer north of the station. (Wikipedia)

BM93 trains are typically operated on the non-electrified lines to Bodø and Åndalsnes
BM93.03 and BM93.07
Train 5702 from Trondheim to Alnabru
185 688

BM93.05 and BM93.08

Single track ahead

My next train
Time for some Norwegian beer, although it is expensive
Dombås
Otta

At Otta station, there were large locomotive sheds (with a roundhouse). When the Dovre Line was operated with steam locomotives, these had to be replaced at Otta, as they required maintenance after traveling 250–300 km from Oslo or Trondheim. The same was true at Ål station on the Bergen Line. The station is situated 288 meters above sea level, and the distance from Otta station to Oslo S is 297 kilometers. (Wikipedia)

Train 5731 to Trondheim
185 711

Train 5734 from Trondheim to Alnabru
Class 159 is a Stadler Eurodual; there are now 8 of those here in Norway, 4 are leased by CargoNet from ELP
Theoretically, it can operate on the non-electrified lines too, but I'm not sure if this one did

Many warnings here
Next train to Lillehammer
Kvam
Ringebu, where the bridge that almost collapsed last summer
Today I'm staying in a hotel which is located at the train station, unfortunately I got the room with the window to the city

Mjøsa Lake starts here in Lillehammer; it is the largest lake in Norway.

Vingnesbrua

Lillehammer hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics.

Lillehammer is larger than Otta and Oppdal, but smaller than Trondheim, the towns that I've recently visited

Many nice summer restaurants here

Scary art
Train 5707 to Trondheim
16 2217

The train driver is saying hi

BLS Rail train 4213 also to Trondheim
119 006

OnRail train 5901 from Alnabru to Åndalsnes
159 005
Until Dombås, this locomotive uses electric traction, while from Dombås to Åndalsnes, it uses a diesel.
OnRail has 2 Eurodual locomotives, the second one is used on Sørlandsbanen, and I will see it tomorrow.
Dual-mode locomotives are particularly useful, as they can operate on both electrified and non-electrified railways.

This one was not on my schedule today
It is a special train, also on the way to Åndalsnes
TMZ 1461 with 3 former DB IC1 coaches
The train will be operating on the Rauma railway as a tourist train
